Raf Simons – New art book by Taschen

One of the best designers of our time, Raf Simons, now captured in a beautiful new art book from Taschen. It will give you an insight in his impeccably tailored menswear line, how he reinvented Jil Sander, and created a new look since he took charge of Dior in 2012. The book includes 120 pages of photographs as well as essays, interviews and quotes from the designer himself. A must-have for all fashion lovers out there!

Christmas Fantasy World by Dior

All big department stores are preparing their windows for Christmas and no effort is too big for this special time of the year.

Printemps in Paris really went the extra mile by collaborating with Christian Dior, who created an amazingly little fantasy world for the 11 windows of the department store. The ateliers of the fashion house created 74 dolls dressed in iconic Dior outfits especially for this occasion. Marion Cotillard, Dior Ambassador, was there to reveal the Xmas windows for the public earlier this week. Time to book your city trip to Paris, even if it is just to do some window shopping.

In the windows of London department store Harrods, you can admire the female Disney characters in beautiful princess gowns created by Versace, Oscar de la Renta, Valentino and many more. Check out the video below highlighting all the dresses.  Of course the Louboutin Cinderella shoe is also on display in London.

Anyone knows what is happening at Saks Fifth Avenue in NYC?

Raf vs Hedi

Paris Fashion Week is already a couple of weeks behind us, but the buzz over Raf Simons and Hedi Slimane is not over yet. Both designers showed their first RTW collection (SS2013) for their new “employers”: Christian Dior and Saint Lauren Paris.

Raf showed a very gracious modern collection, including colour and short dresses. The dark creations from Hedi dressed in smokings and long gowns were rather heavy and monotone. These 2 collection couldn’t have been more contrasting than black and white.

De media is loving everything Raf’s presents them with. Suzy Menkes and Vogue can’t find enough superlatives to describe the work of the designer. On the other side of town, Hedi has put the PR department of Saint Laurent Paris at work. Several fashion critics were not impressed by his collection, but it was Cathy Horyn from The New York Times who made the designer hit the roof. Hedi Slimane immediately started a cat-fight on Twitter putting the journalist’s credibility in question.

Signature pieces of the collection:

1 – 0 for Raf Simons if you ask me. Make that 2 – 0, based on that amazing couture show earlier this year. So proud to be Belgian!

Mila or Blake? Dior or Gucci?

With London 2012 going on right now, it’s all about competition.
So in this battle, who will it be? Mila? or Blake?

The 2 movie actresses are both starring in top fashion brand campaigns.
Do you prefer old glam in the black and white video from Dior featuring Mila for the Miss Dior bag collection?
Or new glam in the sexy video from Gucci starring Blake for the launch of the new perfume Premiere?

Followers of my blog know that I have a soft spot for Dior right now, so my choice is easy… What’s yours?

Dior’s retrospective

Dior is on a retro trip and I LOVE it!
Have you seen the latest commercial of Dior Addict with Daphne Groeneveld. So lovely, so Bardot! And now the Miss Dior Handbag campaign with Mila Kunis. Set in the 50’s in B/W. The fashion house is definitely celebrating its history. It’s all so classy and feminine, but with a playful and modern touch to it. What a beautiful example of good marketing!
