…with these cute little red bags:
Chris De Burgh admired the lady in red in his song. “I’ve never seen you looking so gorgeous as you did tonight, I’ve never seen you shine so bright, you were amazing.”
Red is a very warm color and outward going. In China red symbolizes prosperity. But it can also be associated with temper and anger.
Can you wear red in a corporate environment?
DEFINITELY! If you are working in a male dominated environment and you want to stand out, you should definitely try it out. Forget the negative associations, because every color has positives and negatives. If you go into an important meeting and you want to make a statement, go for red. Be sure that, if you want to get notice and perceived as assertive, you also have something smart to say.
What red items to add to your corporate wardrobe?
The cut of your red piece still needs to be business attire and preferably made of a rich fabric. I would opt for a dress, skirt, blouse or pants and stay away from a full red suit, because that might be pushing the bar a bit too far. Stick to one single piece of red at the time. A Louboutin with red sole can of course always be added to your outfit!
What shade of red to choose?
Red has many different shades, going from fierce red to burgundy red. The brighter reds are more outgoing than the darker reds. Burgundy for example is very stylish and sophisticated, not so much “in your face”. Depending on what you want to achieve, you can play with the different shades. You can also harden or soften the color, by combining it with black, blue, brown or beige.
